In this year, from March the ideal conditions were given (40 centimeters of water height) for the flamingos that were arriving, around 8,700 couples, to make courtship and occupy the island of Senra, the nesting area, in the middle of the lake safe from predators.

In total, 3,764 chicks were born at the lake, which we currently find in nurseries, with a few adults. Meanwhile, the rest of the parents make trips to other wetlands with water to feed themselves and then feed their chicks. They will do this until they are three months old, because from then on they learn to fly and they already march towards the lakes of the neighboring African continent.

Last Saturday, July 30, 600 of these chickens were ringed during the traditional ringing, which had not been held for 2 years. We can read these rings with telescopes and thus know their routes, the years they live and where they come from.
